After the great success of 2019, I Vini del Piemonte came back to Amsterdam for the second edition of the Barolo & Friends Event in the Dutch capital. The event has been organized with the precious support of Perswjin, the country’s most important sector magazine.

The event took place on Monday 2^nd March 2020, at the InterContinental Amstel Amsterdam hotel: a full day of tastings with separate sessions for operators and selected wine lovers. In addition to the walk around tasting, that gave the public the opportunity to get in touch directly with the wine producers, there has been also two in-depth Master Classes. In addition to the producers of “I Vini del Piemonte“, there was a delegation of the “Associazione Produttori di Nas-cëtta del Comune di Novello“.

The Dutch market is potentially extremely interesting for the Piedmontese wines: the wine consumption has grown considerably in the last years and today theItalian wine popularity is on the increase especially among the young generations, who are more curious and careful in their choice.

The demand diversification also shows a growing knowledge from the consumers: the red wines remain the most purchased (50%), but in the last years also the white wines (40%) and the rosé (10%) have increased their popularity, together with sparkling wines. The trends today mark an increasing interest for wines of the terroir and native varieties ad take into great account the sustainability values.
